Cruel Execution

All options are death for Christopher Bernard, a man forced to choose capital punishment for a crime he did not commit–with all physical evidence pointing to him. On the one hand, his option is to take the stand and be put to death for killing one of New Orleans' most influential Mayors ever. On the other hand, his option is to defy the requests of the killers and take the stand as a witness, risking the loss of his only child in their custody. For the suspecting homicide detectives, the race is on to save at least one of two lives. Amid the constant yells of “case closed” from the Department’s Captain under stiffening pressure to apprehend those responsible for the act, Lieutenant James Walch, along with a young protégé and a fresh-out-of-Law school attorney to the accused, must go the full length, bypassing superiors, to reach the truth. The truth leads them to a far more complex conspiracy involving interstate drug trafficking–a conspiracy far deeper than the detectives could have ever imagined.
