I am Annie Taylor. This is the story of the defining moment in my life when I came to the crossroads and had to choose. I was happily married until Shane McCormick, a man imagining himself in love, abducted me. Kept a pampered prisoner in an isolated mansion, I was expected to forget my life and embrace Shane as his eager mistress. Joe Dorsey, Shane’s devoted associate, tried to get me to comply but I would not. Joe and I danced around each other, battling wits, trying to gain the upper hand. Joe was strangely sympathetic and I used this to my advantage. But the months were long and lonely. I struggled to keep my way clear in the face of overwhelming emotions and terrifying experiences. I believed with my whole heart that I could choose my own destiny. In the end, I was unexpectedly betrayed. And I had to look into the murky darkness called the future and choose the path for the rest of my life.
