The Ottawa Bootleggers dominated US semi-pro football for three years in the late 1980s.  They beat the Americans at their own game on-the-field and out-marketed them off-the-field.  Starting from nothing, rising to Number 1, and then disappearing, only to end as a footnote in Ottawa’s football history.
