My writing has always been inspired by asking the 'what if' scenario occured. I often thought growing up how I would fare in a society where pieces of paper were of significantly less value than for those more practical skills such as basic survival. My first piece of work was based on this but it needs a lot of rework on reflection before I get it published! My second piece which is here started of a piece of school work when I was 17 and basically about a person who doesn't fit in as people are scared of what she tells them is going to happen in the future. My reworked book is how this person is treated when she knows something terrible is going to happen to the world and in the paranoid post 9/11 world, she is ignored and then accused of being part of the plot to destroy one major US city. I think like many writers, the idea of writing full time would be the intellectual version of winning the X factor or Pop idol so for now, I'm happy to just keep typing away!
