I believe that before Jesus Christ ascended into heaven, He gave His newly formed church a specific command. "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations...teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you..." (Matthew 28:19-20). Jesus Christ gave a mission to the Church, the people who become His disciples, to preach the good news, the Gospel, which Jesus was sent by God to give to mankind. This Gospel is about the Kingdom of God which is to be established here on earth. The apostles and the disciples of Jesus Christ are to teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world and they are to teach exactly what Jesus Christ taught! Christians down through the centuries have lost site of this mission. (Matthew 24:14, 28:19-20) Jesus Christ said, "...“Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many" (Matthew24: 4-5). Down through the centuries that is exactly what has happened.
