John a marine engineer is drawn into an adventure involving a female scuba diver, romance developes into a smuggling operation that lead him into the seaching of a wrecked coaster off the coast of Cornwall, and from there to London and Amsterdam, but the story culminates on an autoroute in France where they confront their adversaries.
