30,000 words of magical fantasy for Children of 9 and upward
Four orphan children were fostered out together.
There were Aggie, the boys Jack and Uffa, the six-year old Marsali. The small stubborn Aggie turned them into a family, looking out for them, doing their thinking and deciding. It was Aggie who decided they should do a flit to escape the tyranny of their foster-parents, the dreadful Ma and Pa Hossick.
What the children did not know was that they had a role in a plan of the Fay (the fairy people of the Scottish hills) which involved a portal that in the long-ago had provided entry from their alien world for both the Fay and sundry not-so-pleasing creatures such as boggarts, hobgobs, ghouls and the like. Our four youngsters found themselves playing frightening parts on a stage packed with foul denizens of that other world.
Afterwards – well, that is another story.
