In the tranquil ‘other world’ of the rural English waterways an unexpected and bewildering series of events tests the character and the marriage of artist Tick Tate and his wife Jo. On their Easter holiday family cruise up the Shropshire Union Canal, unwittingly, they become ensnared in a criminal conspiracy. In the largely un-policed world of the waterways a calculated evil travels, unsuspected, from village to village, town to town. Sinister events culminate in the kidnapping of their two children.
Nothing has equipped Tick or Jo for the task of finding and unmasking the malevolent mind behind their waking nightmare. Their children’s lives depend on their own resourcefulness. Can they succeed?
