The Last Sabbath

In the Black Forest during the final bloody years of the Thirty Years War, young Willem Kirsch is challenged to a duel by the arrogant Jaegar von Rodenburg, where Willem’s death can be the only outcome. Then the sister of Jaegar gives Willem a mysterious suit of armour that leads to Willem being accused of witchcraft. Willem, cynic and swordsman, driven by guilt, surviving only by his wry humour, becomes a fugitive from both Church and the pagans that grovel before forces older than Christ. Forces that seek to usurp Christendom while Catholics and Protestants slaughter each other on the battlefields of seventeenth century Germany. Forces dark – but as dark as the evil that lingers each man’s soul?
