Cruising the Great Loop

America’s Great Loop was never on our bucket list of things to do. In fact, we sort of backed into the trip with minimal planning. This book consists of our email log sent to approximately 50 friends and family members weekly while we were traveling. Departing from southern Georgian Bay in August 2008 we transited Lake Michigan, the canals and rivers to Mobile, Alabama, across the Gulf of Mexico, the west coast of Florida to Fort Myers, across the Okeechobee Waterway, the east Coast of Florida to Marathon and then north to Chesapeake City. In the fall of 2009 we headed south to Marathon Florida before heading north to Canada and our home waters on Georgian Bay arriving July 2010. We hope that anyone planning to do the Great Loop will find the information useful for itinerary planning, identifying things to do along the way, problems to watch out for and just general knowledge about the Great Loop.
