Searching for different ways of expressing the same word is like opening a box of chocolates – you just never know what you’re going to get. This is especially the case for bathroom-related words, and is more exaggerated by the liveliness of the American language and culture. For instance, if a friend tells you they’re about to “visit the office real quick,” you may be confused as to what they’re talking about unless you know that this is another way of saying they need to use the restroom and will return shortly. Or, in another instance, if you’re told that a person just “cut the cheese,” would you believe they actually have cheese and a knife handy, or would you ascertain the comment on that person’s recent flatulence? It’s paramount that all of us communicate clearly, especially with regards to the employment of bathroom activities. Many embarrassing situations can be avoided simply by understanding a wider variety of slang. So read them, learn them, have fun, and enjoy them!
