Taxation Is Robbery: Man Creates a Frankenstein by A. J. Amess presents a forceful attack on taxation, public debt, and the private banking system, arguing that the growing tax burden is the consequence of governments surrendering their sovereign power to create money and credit. Using Australian and international taxation and debt figures, Amess contends that bank-created credit, compound interest, and government borrowing produce an ever-expanding cycle in which citizens are forced to finance debts that need never have existed. He examines income, sales, indirect, corporate, and municipal taxation, describing their cumulative effect on wages, prices, family security, business, and individual freedom. Amess ultimately argues that the power to create public credit belongs to the people through their government rather than private banks, and calls for monetary reform, resistance to unnecessary taxation, and organized democratic action against what he terms the “Dictatorship of Finance.”
