When innocence is not preserved, nurtured, or allowed to progress to maturity, it can be expressed in many ways, some positive and some not so positive. It tries to find itself through joy and laughter, but if there is no presence of either, then it will be expressed through shame, sorrow, tears, and pain.
These poems speak of a young girl’s reality as she sees it. She wants those she loves to know how she feels and how much she wants them to be a part of her life. Innocence roars for the love of a father and mother. It roars for a family to be in unity. It roars so that those she loves to hear, see, and feel what she feels and be there to support and encourage her to be the best she can.
