“The Murmurings” are the sounds of the trees' leaves or needles as they rustle gently with the wind. They tell of the good or bad within the soil where their roots wander and intertwine. Usually, “The Murmurings” are a peaceful and soothing sound. But on Muskrat Island they are just the opposite. There, they tell of something ominous and foreboding. Ely Stone is the guy chosen to find out what it is.
Retired from the military, Stone takes the job as Tribal Special Agent and soon finds himself once again fighting for his life. Chinese spies, an old Russian operative and powerfully covert agents of the US Air Force are all converging toward a climax for what awaits out on Muskrat Island.
Something lies dormant on the island, and it’s worth all manner of death and mayhem. Whatever it is, it’s more frightening than anything that Stone has ever experienced in war. And that ‘something’ came to rest over five decades ago... smack dab in the middle of Indian Country... Stone's country.
