Marvinalia is a memoir unlike any other: a year-long chronicle of dreams, active imaginations, and inner encounters that transformed a marriage and a mind. When Marvin and Sonia relocate to the shadow of Iztaccihuatl, the sleeping volcano goddess of central Mexico, a forgotten prophecy resurfaces and awakens something long dormant. What follows is a two-hundred-seventy-dream odyssey through Jungian individuation: * meetings with the Anima and Animus, * a self-built inner town populated by archetypal figures, * a harrowing descent into an ancestral Underworld, * an eventual dissolution of the ego before a creator god. Blending Carl Jung's psychology with Clare Graves's theory of human development, and drawing on Aztec and Sumerian mythology for its structure and imagery, Marvinalia traces one couple's slow, sometimes violent, merging of consciousness with the unconscious. Equal parts dream journal, mythic narrative, and psychological map, it invites readers to consider their own hidden worlds—and what it might mean to finally wake up.
