An overview of Indian knowledge system: The Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), or the Bhāratīya Jñāna Paramparā Vibhāga, is a division of the Ministry of Education of the Government of India which purports to promote indigenous Indian systems of knowledge. Established in October 2020, it is located in the AICTE headquarters in New Delhi. Indian knowledge system is body of knowledge and practices of an ancient and rich collection of beliefs, ethics, values, norms, rituals, practices, and philosophies that have been passed down from generation to generation in India. It encompasses various fields such as mythology, philosophy, science, spirituality, art, literature, and social norms, and has played a significant role in shaping Indian society and culture. The foundation of the Indian knowledge system lies in the ancient texts of the four Vedas, which are considered to be the oldest scriptures in the world. The Vedas contain a vast amount of knowledge on subjects ranging from law, justice, medicine, astronomy, mathematics, and politics, to spirituality and philosophy. They provide insights into the Indian way of life, highlighting the importance of balance, harmony, and unity in society these systems and traditions have been integral to the cultural fabric of India and continue to play a significant role in shaping its society, thought processes, and way of life.
