Wise Owl's First Phonics and First 100 Sight Words

"Wise Owl's First Phonics and First 100 Sight Words" is an easy first grade workbook. It can be used with K/1 classes. Children learn beginning sounds, ending sounds, how to sound out CVC words, consonant digraphs and consonant blends. There are 100 of the easiest high frequency words taught, at the rate of 3 words per lesson. The workbook has 33 lessons in all. Each lesson has 8 or more pages. The first page of the lesson presents a new sound. The second page reviews that new sound and some old ones as well. The third page introduces three new sight words and has a short story to read. The fourth page is a review of the three new sight words and some of the old words. The fifth page is a full page story to read, with guidance. This five page lesson is followed by three pages of extra practice. One page practices the new sound, one reviews the sight words and the last page is another full page story to read, with guidance. Multi-sensory techniques are used to teach the sounds and sight words.
