We hope to inspire pleasure with this book. The work of activism is often very laborious, and this work is frequently disproportionately placed on the shoulders of marginalized groups. We aim to provide a guide to finding pleasure inside and outside the body as an antidote to the demanding work of activism. We are inspired by adrienne maree brown’s concept of “pleasure activism” which centers pleasure as a kind of resource within activism. By building off the joy of community and denying the narratives of scarcity, pleasure activism has the potential to shift the paradigm within organizing circles. Overall, by centering joy and pleasure in our lives we can use that as a source of energy and inspiration in our continued activism. We hope you enjoy and find pleasure from our book.
