THE UNDERTOW Real events from the author’s youth provide the key to Henry’s flight across the surface of life, as he explores risk, devotion and retribution, armed with a self-taught philosophy of the absurd and sharing with his favourite author, Albert Camus, a contempt for the cold meaninglessness of existence. As an instrument of fate himself, his obsession with the eradication of loose ends and the beauty of symmetry finally allow him some personal redemption. Or so it might appear.
