In the forty-eighth century, the Tsar Pretender, Tsar Valdemar II, has usurped the Romanov throne in a bloody coup, destroying ships not loyal and sending others into certain death.
Rurik, under the command of Anna Garitsyn, has disgorged her troops ¬on Realtu to little or no resistance. Lured away by a false ¬distress call from a support ship, she is nearly destroyed when Kutosov’s hidden bomb ¬explodes.
