Having a mental illness can be a terrible thing, especially in the beginning when it is new. Feeling alone in the way you think and feel could be the biggest enemy. Support and comfort are not always there when it is needed. Awareness is now the most important tool in coping with mental illness. At the very least, building an understanding within friends and family could progress into the support that is needed. Whether it be in the home, in a relationship, or in a work environment, all of those who have a mental illness, would like nothing more than to exist happily. As the author of this book, and a sufferer of mental illness for over twenty years, I want nothing more than to be understood, and to help others understand. I open my personal life to the reader in the hopes that my story can help others like me not feel so alone, and to help those who have a hard time understanding mental illness, have a little more compassion for what they cannot see.
