Bubble G.U.M.

A collaborative novel from Happy Smiley (aka, the six members of the Happy Smiley Writers Group), Bubble G.U.M. is rollicking adventure with hidden literary bits beneath its young adult humour. Revealing bikinis, combat flip-flops and mutant seabass that make great fish-head curry, are all part of the plot. It has to be Sci-fi in all its glory. The Blurby Bit: It's 2045 and Prix Chan is leaving the safety of Singapore's Green Underwater Metropolis, the Bubble G.U.M. -- a self-sufficient city-state protected three miles beneath the waves by a dome of chewing gum. At 18 she's starting National Service & making all sorts of new friends. But in less than a week Prix -- "a purple-haired bullet magnet" -- will cause the biggest crisis to hit Singapore since the planet went into meltdown creating a world of water & human civilisation on the brink of oblivion. There's only one tiny oasis left: an island that banned chewing gum then used it to make the Bubble G.U.M. (Soooo ironic lah!)
