“Searching for Lost Hope” is a path we each must walk leading to the road we each must find. That encompasses the psychological journey endured while writing this series of poems. One day while sitting in class, I started having a rush of thoughts that were filled with rhythm, rhymes and anguish. I remembered meditating on my life and how broken I was. In that moment, I was saved by a pencil and a sheet of paper that helped me to channel those emotions into words- words that even in the expressing, I still felt compelled to hide behind something. Only, this time, I chose to hide behind the literary devices - so that one would have to go beyond the surface understanding. Some of these poems are stories of my own while others are of someone else’s but which had borne witness to. Since my childhood, it was ingrained in us to be seen and not heard, creating a barrier in communicating our issues to adults. What could a child really be experiencing that makes life so complex? The truth is that children see everything and know what is going on despite the pretense that may be displayed. Children face challenges too, just like adults, and that's one of the many social issues I seek to address in this book.
