This is not a defense of theism. Rather, it is a deconstruction of the fundamental (and often disavowed) claims, evasions, and redefinitions that have come to accompany atheism when it comes to contemporary discourse on belief, disbelief, and the supposed "absence" of both. With a commitment to clarity and backed by more than 250 citations, this work challenges the reader to reconsider the legitimacy of "nonbelief" and distinct from belief to the contrary and whether it merely re-brands belief with a more palatable name.
