I wrote this poem in 2016 when my grandson, Sammy came to live with me under some pretty nefarious circumstances. Without getting into the background of why his father and I got custody of him at 9 months old, I will say that the system worked in the case and protected Sammy from a very bad situation. After a stay in the hospital as we came out to put him in our car, we were surrounded by ladybugs. He is fascinated by them because he felt they came to protect him.
