This book is a result of 30 years of personal research on Ellis Dean, Sr. (1760s-1818) of Scott County, Virginia with 4 generations of his known descendants including Andrew Dean (1793-1870s) and his wife Margaret Penix. Included are 2 generations of the descendants of Joshua Penix (1760s-1827) who was one of the early settlers in Fort Boonesboro, Kentucky in 1777. There is also a brief Chapter on John Cathey (1710-1764) of Rowan County, North Carolina. John Cathey was the father of Ann Cathey who married Joshua Penix in 1784. There are 31 documents and photographs and a complete name index.
