False Start

In the small Pennsylvania town of Windsor Valley, a group of friends deals with the complexity that growing up and starting high school brings to their lives. Allison begins to feel more distant from best friends Reagan and Hayley, whose high society upbringing has always made her feel like an outsider. The girls bond with best friends Tucker and Austin through romantic pursuits—Austin wanting Hayley, and Allison wanting Tucker—and the five of them form an unlikely friendship. Reagan finds herself in a romantic entanglement separate from the group, as she struggles to keep her crush on Allison’s enemy a secret and ward off her mother’s insistence that she date fellow socialite-in-training Nick. In addition to the high school present, the group narrates “flash-forwards” of their lives nearly a decade into the future, a world where their friendship has been changed by hook-ups, break-ups, betrayal, marriage, and life in general, beginning with a wedding that has everyone’s mind on the past.
