Comings & Goings: Two one-act plays

SHHH! The curtain rises on ... an audience. Couples with unanswered questions. Ladies and gentlemen, please take your seats. This evening's performance will begin in one minute. Time to resolve the day's business before settling down to enjoy the concert ... or play. DEPARTURES Women and Airports are a potent combination. A woman is like a doctor: she is ever on call; never off-duty; always required to have an emergency back-up supply of energy and resourcefulness. An airport is the only force on the planet more powerful than a woman. For 45 glorious minutes after check-in nobody can call her back to her responsibilities. As the voices say: "Once you've passed Passports there's no coming back. After Departures there's no coming back". These two simple one-act plays offer a glimpse of people and individuals behind the crowd. First, we join a concert or theatre audience and imagine private days before this public evening; then, an anonymous stream of passengers pouring through a busy airport.
