This is a story of Kate and Dave Marshall, new owners of the Winslow Home in a fictional town in Massachusetts. The house seems ordinary at first, but soon, one particular room becomes a vehicle for the past owner to communicate to the new owner. An event from the past needs to be corrected, and Kate is chosen to make it right. While at the same time, she tries to adjust to life in a new town, family relationships, and her desire to have a child of her own.
