This is an anthology of nineteen essays on the culture and politics of the bomb in the United States from 1945 to 1990. Section 1 looks at America's entry into the nuclear age. Section 2 examines the impact of the bomb on American culture. Section 3 explores the ongoing controversy over nuclear fallout. Section 4 covers debates about the bomb and attempts to limit this destructive technology. And section 5 looks at the development of nuclear power.
