Complicated Grief

Written toward the end of the pandemic, Complicated Grief interrogates and refracts the emotional layers of public crisis. Here, in an allusive sequence of sixty-six 16-line poems, “social distancing” and “Zoom fatigue” intersect to lay bare the fragile underpinnings of “the looney & perishably alone.” “Unscrew the bolts from your log-jams/ O messed-up brightness!/ Sometimes, being yourself is just complicated.”
