“Extracts from the Gladstone Kibosh,” accounts from a fictional newspaper apparently invented by Oliver Klinger, co-publisher with his brother L.A. “Toots” Klinger of the Silverton Standard from late 1897 to the end of 1905, was a column that struck a rich vein of humor amid the grim realities of the frontier mining camps in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado during that time.
