On his first day at work Gideon Stone, trainee solicitor is not really sure that he wants to join the legal profession. Gideon’s doubts are exacerbated when Elgan Collier, one of the partners at Merlin Twitt and Candle Solicitors is killed in front of him by a piece of falling masonry.
As the first three weeks of Gideon’s new life unfold, it becomes apparent that everything is not what it seems at the Firm. Indeed the odd array of colleagues and clients that he encounters in the sleepy town of Caernewydd, hide more than one secret, the unfolding of which threaten the lives of those who are most dear to him.
