Last year, Michael McVey became a professor at Eastern Michigan University and moved with his wife, Kelly, daughter, Abigail, and dog, a Tibetan terrier named Dalai, 2000 miles from Tucson, Arizona, to Saline, Michigan.
In these monthly columns for the Saline Reporter, dating from December 2007 until August 2008, McVey reflected on the differences between life in Michigan and life in the desert Southwest.
