On the last day of their last year of high school, Ty and Erika aren't exactly sure what to do next. Without the conformity of their high school peers to oppose, how will they manage to define themselves?
Ty suggests they go on a road trip in pursuit of his ex-girlfriend, who happens to be the girl Erika secretly loves: Magnolia, The One Who Got Away. Expecting to experience a taste of real America as they journey, the teens are disappointed to find dozens of the same diners, hundreds of identical gas stations and the eerie feeling that nothing is unique.
Even in such a desolate landscape, Ty and Erika come face to face with charismatic individuality, such as a slam poet named Savannah Blue, owner of The World's Only Ceramic Hand Museum, and a hippie named Oyster, follower of the strange religion of Rimorr. In order to find Magnolia, Ty and Erika must confront some of
America's most colorful personalities, find the right Dunkin’ Donuts and, hardest of all, not kill each other along the way.
