We were young when our village was raided. They killed all the men and raped the women. There was nothing we could do to protect them. We were just children. But we’ll never forget that day for as long as we live. My brothers and I were six years of age the night we ran. We never can forget it. My father did all he could to protect his family and his home. We all wanted to stay and fight with him, but we were forced to hide in the woods with the women and children.
I know I’m speaking for my brothers when I say, we didn’t want to run and hide. I especially wanted to stay and fight with my father. He said we’re too young. They didn't know my heart. I saw no reason to run and hide, to live with this pain I feel now. I've walked everyday seeking revenge for that night, I’d rather of died that night with honor, then live the way I do now, with shame. Knowing I ran from our father on his last stand.
