Translated in 1611, the King James Version of the Bible stands as the most enduring English translation. In its own day, however, it was not nearly so well accepted; in fact, the original printing contained a lengthy preface, written by Myles Smith, defending the translation. ¶ It is unfortunate that so many currently-printed editions of this translation neglect to include the translator’s own preface. This booklet attempts to rectify the situation.
