As a sheriff in rural Nebraska, Cash Nelson never expected to be investigating a murder. But when Caitlin Thomas, a teenager already beset by tragedy, is found dead in the park at the edge of town, fielding complaints about road construction and small-town politics take a backseat to hunting a killer. Cash and his deputies find themselves with few suspects and even fewer motives. As pressure begins to mount, they uncover a link to the previous biggest crime in county history. Cash is convinced it’s more than just a coincidence, but evidence to prove it remains elusive. When he finally comes up with an explanation, his deputies, his wife, and even he himself question it.
