Introducing Garry Dean, liable, wise-cracking, tough-minded newspaper man who has differences with his city editor and walks out of his job straight into a series of tingling adventures which would curl the hair of a veteran police sergeant. The embarrassingly dead body of a local gangster, a respected millionaire being bled by blackmailers, an elusive dancer of parts named Renee, and an assortment of hot-shots who would like to see Mr. Garry Dean cooled off are mixed up in the puzzling events of the story. It comes to a taunt climax in a "ride" on which Garry is taken, with nothing between him and sudden death except his wits . . .
