These poems and stories are the fictionalized life of a fictionalized girl growing to womanhood. They are presented through her eyes, her friend’s eyes, family’s eyes, and her lover’s eyes. They are from all perspectives and fall into all emotional contexts. You will love her, hate her, and feel sorry for her. You will understand her actions and be assailed by her strangeness and repulsed by her morals, and fall in love with her naivety. Attie Whilin is no one and everyone. She embodies all of America’s youth and yet she is a child of the world.
