Despite the widely recognized close relationship between diet and health, nutritional issues for children with special needs have long been overlooked. Society lacks research into the specific nutritional needs of children with autism. This oversight not only affects their physical health but can also negatively impact their behavioral and cognitive development. The TastLi program, derived from "Taste Life," aims to emphasize food as an indispensable part of life that constantly influences people. Raising awareness about nutrition and food science for children with autism can not only improve their quality of life but also help foster societal understanding and support for this special group.
Against this backdrop, we initiated the TastLi program with three main visions:
Public Awareness Awakening: Through scientific popularization activities and public welfare campaigns, eliminate societal misunderstandings about the autistic community and advocate for an inclusive social environment.
Professional Support Empowerment: Convey scientific dietary concepts to autistic families, educators, and medical institutions, revealing the positive role of nutritional intervention in improving children's gut health, emotional behavior, and cognitive abilities.
Localized Practice Innovation: Introduce international cutting-edge nutritional intervention programs (such as gluten-free and casein-free diets, probiotic therapy), adapt them to Chinese family dietary habits for localized improvement, and establish the first nutrition support resource library for children with autism.
We believe that children with special needs are not a 'vulnerable group,' but rather 'stars that need to be translated.' And we aim to be that telescope.
This book provided a comprehensive summary of nutrients that are recommended and nutrients that should be avoided for children with autism. Besides, there are five designed diets with lucid scientific explanations, serving as a guide for ASD children. In this book, you can find the basic principles behind nutritional intervention and see how daily food intake can be used as an effective method for development.
