What is the place of 3D printing and digital fabrication technologies in architecture? How can these disruptive technologies change the ways in which architecture is constructed and configured? This book is a collection of Thesis work from the UC Berkeley 2012 Department of Architectures Disruptive Studio directed by professor Ronald Rael. From construction systems of Mycelium to mobile plastic printing robots and in sites ranging from the Dead Sea to Fukushima, 7 proposals and projects are chronicled exploring the implications and possibilites of disruptive technologies.
