Horizontal Light: Lewerentz

Preface. The following documents a trip which took place in August of 2006 through the Scandinavian landscape of Finland, Sweden and Denmark. Under the aegis of the Deborah Norden Fund and the Architectural League of New York, my itinerary and outlook were set by visits to the work of Alvar Aalto and Sigurd Lewerentz. My intention is to present a travelogue in the classic sense, with the works presented in the order in which they were experienced. The photographs and drawings are a series of visual short stories rather than essays, the recording of the episodic within the architectural whole.
