I've written my first ever sci-fi novel under my real name C. M. Donaldson, I cut my teeth on Asimov and surprised myself when the dream control idea prompted me to write & I hope readers enjoy a story dancing around "what if" in an alternative existence. Dreams are so exquisitely unique & personal. Wouldn't it be useful to revisit them for greater interpretation? My first effort under pseudonym Pearl Barley is of the dieter's struggle (listed under humour) with a certain heart-warming element but no advice or dieting tips. THE FAT BAG stuck between a rock cake & a hard plaice is a complete play on words, as are many of the chapters within, e.g. My Cup Runneth Over & Not All Menus Are Created Equal, facing my lifelong battle of the bulge and the yo-yo dieting that has spanned 35 years. I've lost weight loads of times - I just can't keep it off is my familiar cry! It's full of well-known cliches - amusing, laugh-out-loud and thought-provoking. Have I found my niche? You decide!
