Demel Baber (Poetic D) is a Washington, D.C. poet, writer and artist. She is a product of D.C. Public Schools, where she was first introduced to journalism and performing arts, and after briefly studying at Hollins University in Roanoke, VA, she completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Media Art/Journalism at the University of the District of Columbia. She began honing in on the craft of writing at 8 years old and since then has had published many articles, poems and short stories and performs at local spoken-word poetry events.
