Jay Gerber grew up in the Southwest Kansas town of Fowler and now lives in Lincoln, Nebraska with his wife, Ruth. He is a retired scientist who previously researched and developed vaccines with SmithKlein, Beecham, and Pfizer Animal Health. He has two children, Nate and Katie, and two grandchildren, Olivia and Ben. Cowboys Don't Wear Overalls is his third book of memoirs. His first book published in 2011 is titled Time on the LA Case and his second book published in 2013 is titled Returning to Places We've Been. Along with poetry, Jay also enjoys painting and has art work on display at several galleries.
