Robert Allan Stevens tells stories about common men and women who create American history in their daily lives. He mines his family history and links it to our shared American experience. His extensive activities as a writer, historian, educator and activist contribute to his love of individual lives as historical narrative. Stevens grew up in a Norman Rockwell New England of the 1960's. Robert was a photographic illustration major at Rochester Institute of Technology and went on to earn Bachelor's and Master's degrees at the University of Wisconsin. A short stint at the United States Department of Education was followed by 16 years in college student services at Miami-Dade Community College and has retired after 23 years at the graduate College of Education at Florida's Nova Southeastern University where he earned his Doctor of Education degree.
