My love for reading and writing developed when I was eleven years old. Writing provided the answers to the questions that permeated my mind, heart, and spirit. I was ignited, inspired, and I fell in love with words and the transformative power they had on the life of the writer, the reader, and the world. I dreamed of poems stacked on top of one another and stories that I wanted to compose. I imagined other writers in sanctuaries or small apartments, on buses writing on napkins and filling notebooks. I am inspired to write by simple things such as rain and life. I am able to make sense of violence, love, happiness, heartache, and fear as they all get sorted into proper places. I can go anywhere, I can be anybody, and I can transcend economics, racism, and in that space true freedom exists. I hope to inspire others so that you too may laugh, cry, or identify with courage and build your own inspiration to stand on.
