This book is designed for Elementary school grades. It contains six chapters in all. Chapter 1 addresses the Goal of Social Studies. Chapter 2 focuses on the problem approach to teaching social studies in elementary schools. Chapter 3 presents the K-12 Curriculum of the Department of Education in the Philippines. In chapter 4, it incorporates themes from standards in teaching social studies. Chapter 5 discusses Constructivism and Social Studies, and finally, in chapter 6, the values that need to be taught in social studies are discussed
