I fought for my world. It didn't quite cost me an arm and a leg, but it did cost me my hand and my social confidence. How could I possibly make friends when the next day, the enemy tore them from my grasp and my superiors replaced them like a lame lightbulb? Even after I finished my Combat term and entered Living, I couldn't bring myself to find any permanent friends. All I had was the address of a school friend who never replied to my letters. But then I met Faith. She was everything I'd ever wanted, and I was lucky enough to be the same to her. So you can imagine my distress when I finally receive word from the friend who never replied, only to find that he represented a strange but familiar-sounding organisation called central circle, who wanted me to leave my life and my love behind to come and work for them.
